The PT boys played their hearts out 2 weekends in a row, and for the 2nd straight weekend came up just a little short taking 2nd again. Last weekend it was a 2nd place finish to Jaha in Redlands Oregon, and yesterday was a 2nd place finish to Eastside Select in the Triple Crown Seattle tournament held in Monroe. The boys played GREAT all weekend, going 5-2, and picking up some valuable lessons along the way. We have a rare weekend off this weekend, with our “team garage sale” happening at Kings Way on 78th from 9AM to 12PM. Please come buy!!!!
We’ll be HERE, Cooperstown Dreams Park in 30 days guys!!!
The bats went quiet on Sunday when the PT boys lost 2-0 in the semi-finals in Hillsoboro in the Nations 12U tourney. It was a very dissapointing loss for many reasons, the least of which was the umpires who decided it was their job to be the main attraction. That’s extremely dissapointing because it took away from a phenominal pitching performance by Westview’s ace Willie, who threw a gem against us. Hats off to him. But also dissapointing because it kept us from being a little more competitive than we could’ve/should’ve been. No excuses though, Willie was outstanding. Next up, a rare weekend off if you can call it that…we head to Corvallis on Friday night to watch OSU take on Stanford, GO BEAVS!!!! Then Sunday it’s AIRSOFT war time!!!
The PT boys played very well together earning a championship trophy in Reedville going 5-0 for the weekend. It was a great weekend of baseball in the sunshine. Too many great performances to mention individually!!! Great job boys keep up the good work.
Primetime went 2-1 over the weekend losing by a single run 4-3 in the quarterfinals to the eventual champion, The Spokane Crew. They rolled out a great pitcher and we battled him, taking the lead briefly. We had the tying run thrown out at the plate in the bottom of the 5th on a rough call from the home plate umpire. Every game is a learning experience, and we get better all the time. Next up…Hillsboro this weekend assuming that Mother Nature cooperates.
PT played very solidly with only 9 guys in a 3 game set in Lacey on Saturday. We played two very solid clubs from the Portland area Tualatin and Westview that included some spectacular defense from Brooks at 2nd. In the last game against Eastside Select the PT boys were dominated by a great pitching performance, a 6 inning no-hitter. We look forward to seeing Eastside Select again soon, hopefully in Wenatchee this weekend.
First off I want to tell the players and coaches of Washington Select and The Renegades that they have a couple of awesome teams!!! The 1-0 win over Washington Select in the semi-final game was insane, won on a suicide-squeeze in the bottom of the 6th. VERY well played game by both teams. The championship over the Renegades was an 11-9 game that seemed like an easy win for us, until the Renegades showed the fight of a true champion scoring 7 runs in the bottom of the 6th to make for a very uncomfortable dugout, and uneasy parents in the stands. I’m incredibly proud to be associated with this group of kids and parents, it’s truly an honor. Well done kids, well done indeed!!! Coach Sawyer
Back in December we ran through a battery of tests with the PT boys. Sit-Ups, Push-Ups, Air-Squats, 20 yard shuttle run, etc. etc. etc. After those tests we began “core” workouts with coach Mike Hickey. Now close to 90 days later we re-tested them. Insane dedication from the team during those 90 days provided some insane results. Some kids even doubled or tripled their output in sit-ups and push-ups. Some improved their shuttle run time from around 5.5 to 4.9, a half a second improvement in that short of a burst of time is HUGE. I couldn’t be more proud of the kids. Good job guys, keep up the hard work!!! We’re JUST getting started. Coach Sawyer
